You also need to remember that smoking is an addiction, so nagging, shaming or being impatient are not helpful. Helping them find ways to reduce their stress weather that means helping out with simple everyday tasks a little bit more or just being a good friend with a supportive, listening ear can make a big difference. That also means keeping in regular contact and checking up to show you care. Steering them away from temptation when the opportunity arises is also a great help. When you hang out avoid places where you may come into contact with smoking. Sometimes when people quit smoking, they may start to notice weight gain. Promoting a healthy body image and avoiding making fun can help them feel secure and confident to continue their quitting journey.
Smoking is one of the most difficult addictions to quit, but the health consequences are huge. With the right tools, good support system and good independent reasons for quitting, it can be done. When I speak to long-term smokers and people who have quit or are trying to, they all have the same regret. They wish they never tried it in the first place.

My grandma's house has tons of cactus and sagebrush and a bunch of sand and small hills. We were inside the house eating and decided to go outside.
We started by playing hide and seek and then we started playing tag. When I was running away from my brother I jumped down a small hill and on the side of the hill was covered in cactus, so I kinda fell in the cactus. Once I landed in the cactus I began to scream, then my uncle came and picked me up and brought me up to the house. Once I got inside we began to pull the cactus needles out of my whole left side. After a few hours of pain, we got all the cactus out of my body, it took a few days to fully recover from the cactus needles. There were still some tiny little needles in my skin.
To this day I still hate cactus, but I still love my grandma's house and my grandma. I’ve only fallen in cactus once and I’m a lot more careful around cactus and other things. This took place about 3 years ago, but more recently I was walking in my grandma's yard and then the sand under my feet sank into a snake hole. I stepped away from the hole and looked in it and saw the head of a snake, I couldn’t tell what kind of snake it was because I ran away too fast. Still, I have good and bad memories from my grandma's house. One of the good memories is making cookies with my grandma. My grandma and grandpa are still alive and well.
