Explanation:
What volume of CO2(g), measured at STP is produced if 15.2 grams of CaCO(s) is heated?
Answer:
Volume = 3.4 L
Explanation:
In order to calculate the volume of CO₂ produced when 15.2 g of CaCO₃ is heated, we need to first write out the balanced equation of the thermal decomposition of CaCO₃:
CaCO₃ (s) + [Heat] ⇒ CaO (s) + CO₂ (g)
Now, let's calculate the number of moles in 15.2 g CaCO₃:
mole no. = \(\mathrm{\frac{mass}{molar \ mass}}\)
= \(\frac{15.2}{40.1 + 12 + (16 \times 3)}\)
= 0.1518 moles
From the balanced equation above, we can see that the stoichiometric molar ratios of CaCO₃ and CO₂ are equal. Therefore, the number of moles of CO₂ produced is also 0.1518 moles.
Hence, from the formula for the number of moles of a gas, we can calculate the volume of CO₂:
mole no. = \(\mathrm{\frac{Volume \ in \ L}{22.4}}\)
⇒ \(0.1518 = \mathrm{\frac{Volume}{22.4}}\)
⇒ Volume = 0.1518 × 22.4
= 3.4 L
Therefore, if 15.2 g of CaCO₃ is heated, 3.4 L of CO₂ is produced at STP.

9.42 g of lead (ii) nitrate was reacted with 0.655 mol/L potassium iodide to produce 2.64 g of precipitate. What volume of potassium iodide was used in this reaction?
The volume of potassium iodide used will be 0.087 L or 87 mL
Stoichiometric calculationThe equation of the reaction goes thus: \(Pb(NO_3)_2(aq) + 2KI --- > PbI_2(s) + 2KNO_3(aq)\)
The mole ratio of the 2 reactants is 1:2.
Mole of 9.42 g \(Pb(NO_3)_2\) = 9.42/331.2 = 0.02844 mol
Equivalent mole of KI = 0.02844 x 2 = 0.05688 mol
Volume of 0.05688 mol, 0.655 mol/L KI = 0.05688/0.655 = 0.087 L or 87 mL

The speed of light in a vacuum is 2.998 x 108 m/s. How long does it take for light to circumnavigate the Earth, which has a circumference of around 24,900 miles? Do not enter "seconds" as part of your answer. Watch your Sig Figs!
Answer:
0.13 s
Explanation:
We'll begin by converting 24900 mile to metres (m). This can be obtained as follow:
1 mile = 1609.344 m
Therefore,
24900 mile = 24900 mile × 1609.344 m / 1 mile
24900 mile = 4.01×10⁷ m
Finally, we shall determine the time taken for light to circumnavigate the Earth, this can be obtained as follow:
Distance = 4.01×10⁷ m
Speed = 2.998×10⁸ m/s
Time =?
Speed = distance / time
2.998×10⁸ = 4.01×10⁷ / time
Cross multiply
2.998×10⁸ × time = 4.01×10⁷
Divide both side by 2.998×10⁸
Time = 4.01×10⁷ / 2.998×10⁸
Time = 0.13 s
Thus, it will take 0.13 s for light to circumnavigate the Earth.

Zoe left her water bottle capped and in her bedroom. She came back some time later to realize that the bottle was “sweating” and left a ring of liquid on her nightstand
Explain thoroughly the science behind why Zoe’s water bottle is sweating
Answer:
Condensation
Explanation:
Zoe is quite keen to have noticed what we call condensation. Air contains many components, one of those being water vapor. Like how sugar is soluble in water, water can be said to be "soluble" in air. Water will evaporate into the air to a certain extent. The higher the temperature of the air, the more water the air can hold. If the air has more water that it can hold (potentially because of a temperature decrease), the extra water will come out of the air. Zoe's water bottle was cold, and because the air around Zoe's bottle had cooled down, the air can not hold as much water as it could when it was warm, so the air deposited the extra water in the form of liquid water onto the bottle, giving the illusion that her bottle was sweating.
Which of these is an advantage of shade-grown coffee beans?

D. Shade-grown coffee trees produce fewer coffee beans per plant.
Answer: A
Explanation: I just took the quiz.
Shade-grown coffee trees produce more coffee beans per plant.
What are shade-grown coffee beans?
Shade-grown coffee is coffee grown underneath a canopy of taller trees that provide shade from the sun. Traditionally, coffee has been grown in this manner – underneath a natural forest canopy – and when done so, there are many benefits.
Majority of coffee varieties are not able to tolerate direct sunlight. They grow better under the canopy of sun-filtering shade trees. The canopy of shady trees protects the coffee from the direct sun. Further, shade-grown coffee does not require chemical fertilizers and pesticides. In the shade, the coffee beans mature more slowly. Thus, shade-grown coffee produces more beans. With slow growth, the natural sugars and flavour of the coffee get increased or enhanced. This coffee provides biodiversity and a home for birds.
Hence, option D is correct.

How many grams of sodium sulfato pro
The grams of magnesium hydroxide needed to yield 8.00 moles of magnesium chlorate is approximately 466.64 g. None of the options provided match the calculated value of 466.64 g.
To determine the grams of magnesium hydroxide (Mg(OH)2) needed to yield 8.00 moles of magnesium chlorate (Mg(ClO3)2), we need to consider the balanced chemical equation for the reaction between magnesium hydroxide and chlorine.
The balanced equation is as follows:
2 Mg(OH)2 + 6 Cl2 → 2 Mg(ClO3)2 + 2 H2O
From the balanced equation, we can see that 2 moles of Mg(OH)2 react with 6 moles of Cl2 to produce 2 moles of Mg(ClO3)2.
Therefore, the stoichiometric ratio is 2 moles of Mg(OH)2 : 2 moles of Mg(ClO3)2.
To calculate the grams of Mg(OH)2 needed, we can use the stoichiometric ratio and the given moles of Mg(ClO3)2.
Given:
Moles of Mg(ClO3)2 = 8.00 moles
Using the stoichiometric ratio, we have:
8.00 moles Mg(ClO3)2 × (2 moles Mg(OH)2 / 2 moles Mg(ClO3)2) = 8.00 moles Mg(OH)2
To convert moles to grams, we need to multiply by the molar mass of Mg(OH)2.
The molar mass of Mg(OH)2 = (24.31 g/mol) + (2 * 16.00 g/mol) = 58.33 g/mol
Grams of Mg(OH)2 = 8.00 moles Mg(OH)2 × 58.33 g/mol = 466.64 g
Therefore, the grams of magnesium hydroxide needed to yield 8.00 moles of magnesium chlorate is approximately 466.64 g.

b. Molecular mass by SDS-PAGE: 100 kD
c. Molecular mass by SDS-PAGE with 2-mercaptoethanol: 40 kD and 60 kD
Answer:
Explanation:
The protein comprises of two 60-kD polypeptides and two 40-kD polypeptides. Each one of the 40-kD chains has a disulfide-bond which is directly bonded to a 60-kD chain.
The 100-kD units attach noncovalently to produce a protein with a molecular mass of 200 kD. The interaction among the different subunits in the protein is not affected by the Gel filtration chromatography.
Hence, the protein seems to be 200 kD in size. When SDS-PAGE takes place samples are being subjected to heat and therefore undergoing denaturation conditions. The aftermath effect of this causes disorganization in the 100 kD units.
However, the reducing agent (BME) main task is the reduction of disulfide bonds in a protein.
It implies that BME is responsible for the reduction between the R1-S-S-R2 bond between 40 kD and 60 kD to R1-SH and R2-SH, resulting in seperate proteins.

Cyanogen bromide treatment of another sample of the same tetrapeptide yielded a tripeptide and free Tyr. e. N-terminal analysis of the other tetrapeptide gave Asn. What is the amino acid sequence of this octapeptide
Answer:
The amino sequence of an octapeptide can be determined by :
i.Amino acids present in the peptide
ii.By the behaviour shown by the treatment of these material with different biological and chemical reactions
As shown ammonium was released from the peptide,which shows that the peptide contains either Asn or Gln.
As there is presence of Asp in the amino acid analysis which indicates that the octapeptide contains Asp.
Acid hydrolysis hydrolyzes the peptide bonds which yields a Ala-Val which is the result of partial acid hydrolysis.
Chymotrypsin is on the C-terminal side of the aromatic amino acids Phe, Tyr, and Trp. The peptide has Tyr which indicates that the two present tetrapeptides after chymotrypsin treatment are fourth and eighth amino acids i-e N--Tyr-C and Tyr as the fourth amino acid and Ala-Val somewhere in the octapeptide
As Arg is only present on the C terminal side of the Trypsin cleavage therefore Arg must be the second or the sixth amino acid for the two dipeptides to form as a result of arginine treatment of a tetrapeptide
Cyanogen bromide cleaves on the C-terminal side of Met residues. For free Tyr to be produced from cyanogen bromide treatment of one of the tetrapeptides, Met must be either the third or seventh amino acid. Because Ala was present in both tetrapeptides, Ala must be either the first or fifth amino acid, present in the same tetrapeptide as Arg and Met,i-e N.-Tyr-C and Ala-Val somewhere in the octapeptide and Ala-Arg-Met as the first, second, and third or fifth, sixth, and seventh amino acids and Tyr as the fourth amino acid.
One of the tetrapeptides contains Ala-Val as its second and third amino acids and Asn as its N-terminal amino acid. Therefore two combinations are possible as below
N-Asn-Ala-Val-Tyr-Ala-Arg-Met-Tyr-C or N-Ala-Arg-Met-Tyr-Asn-Ala-Val-Tyr-C
Answer:
The amino aciid sequence of an octapeptide can be determined from the amino acids that are present in the peptide and from the results of different chemical and biological treatments.

A) Acid hydrolysis hydrolyzes peptide bonds. The dipeptide Ala-Val is obtained by partial acid hydrolysis. The indicates that Ala-Val is present in the peptide
B) Chymotrypsin cleaves on the C-terminal side of the aromatic amino acids. Phe, Tyr, and Trp. The peptide contains only Tyr. The presence of tetrapeptides after the treatment of ohymotrypsin indicates that Tyr is the fourth and eighth amino acids.
N-Tyr-C and Tyr present as the fourth amino acid. in constrast, Ala-Val is present in the octapeptide
C) Trpsin cleaves on the C-terminal side of Arg and Lys residues. only Arg is present in the octapeptide. Arg must be the second or sixth amino acid, for two dipeptide to be formed from arginine during the treatment of one tetrapeptide.
D) Cyanogen bromide cleaves on the C-terminal side of Met residues. For free Tyr to be produced from cynogen bromide treatment of one of the tetrapeptides, Met must be either the third or seventh amino acid. Because Ala is present in both tetrapeptides, Ala must be either the first or fifth amino acid, present in the same tetrapeptide as Arg and Met.
In addition, presence of N-...-Tyr-C and Ala-Val in the octapeptide and Ala-Arg-Met as the first, second, third or fifth, sixth or seventh amino acids and Tyr as the fourth amino acid.
E) One of the tetrapides contains Asn as its N-terminal amino acid, and Ala-Val as its second and third amino acids. Two octapeptides are possible from this peptide analysis.

Chlorination extraction of gold from the body may refer to the use of methylene chloride to extract gold particles from the scalp and hair. During prolonged exposure, the methylene chloride can be inhaled which can cause serious health issues.
What is Chlorination extraction of gold?This method was founded on the idea that gold turns into the trichloride AuCl₃ when chlorine reacts with moisture. This compound can then be washed away, and the gold is precipitated using ferrous sulfate, sulphate of potash, hydrogen sulfide, or charcoal. Long contact is necessary to remove coarse gold, which should be done via amalgamation. Thoroughly oxidized ore may be handled immediately for pyrite ore or concentrate, but basic ores—which contain lime and particularly magnesia—absorb a lot of chlorine and may become heated. This was verified by finishing the roasting at a high temperature to frit the magnesia with silica.
What is Amalgamation?A merger unites two or more businesses to form a new organization. A merger and an amalgamation are not the same thing because neither business exists as a separate legal entity. Instead, a brand-new organization is created to hold the merged assets and obligations of the two businesses.
Even when a new company is formed, the term amalgamation has typically lost favor in the United States and been replaced with merger or consolidation.
