When one is in the country one amuses other people. It is excessively boring. ” “If you don’t take care, your friend Bunbury will get you into a serious scrape some day. ”.

Informative nonfiction:

Explanitory: (or expository)

- a writing style that aims to explain the topic to the reader. Whether it be a person, place, idea, and so on.

Staring out the window, Nessie Cullen missed the announcement.

Is it a Complete SentenceOr is it a Fragment?

Answers

The following sentence Staring out the window, Nessie Cullen missed the announcement is a complete sentence.

What is a complete sentence?

There must be a subject, a verb, and an object in every complete sentence. A word or a pronoun is frequently used as the topic. Additionally, as all verbs require a subject, if there is a subject, there must also be a verb. The item on which the subject is acting is known as the sentence's object. Both the subject and the predicate must be present.

"She sleeps" is an illustration of a short, accurate phrase. The predicate is sleeping, and she is the subject. The verb sleeps serves as the whole predicate in this situation. Due to the fact that it is a "intransitive" verb, which means it doesn't require an object after it, it may act as the predicate by itself. "Transitive" verbs are the other kind. A second word, a "object," is necessary for transitive verbs. Wants, for instance, is a transitive verb and a component of the predicate in the sentence "The boy wants a dog." Because desires necessitates an object, in this case a dog, the entire predicate is wants a dog. Each of the examples given above—She sleeps and The boy wants a dog—are "independent clauses," which are entire sentences.

Complete sentences can have many different forms. Despite the fact that every phrase has a tale, some simply need a few words, while others employ commas and clauses to provide a more detailed explanation. Look at it now.

I ate my meal.Three courses were served to us.Brad accompanied us to supper. He adores fish tacos. We everyone thought we had overindulged in the end.It was a wonderful evening, we all agreed.

Night fits the definition for a coming-of-age story, one in which a character grows from a child to an adult. A recurring aspect of the coming-of-age tale is what happens when the central figure must confront what lies ahead alone. Explain how Elie goes from a child to an adult.

Answers

Elie Wiesel's memoir Night portrays his journey from childhood to adulthood through his experiences during the Holocaust.

When he and his family are forced to leave their home and enter the concentration camps, Elie is just a young boy. However, as he is separated from his mother and younger sister and forced to confront the horrors of the camps, he must mature quickly in order to survive.

Throughout the book, Elie is exposed to the most brutal aspects of human nature, including violence, cruelty, and indifference. He must learn to navigate these dangers on his own, as he is separated from his father for much of the time. This isolation forces him to become more self-reliant and self-aware, as he learns to fend for himself and make difficult decisions.

As he witnesses the atrocities committed against himself and others, Elie begins to question his faith and the existence of God. This crisis of faith represents a key aspect of his journey toward adulthood, as he must grapple with the most profound questions of human existence.

By the end of the book, Elie has survived the camps and is liberated, but he is forever changed by his experiences. He has lost his innocence and his faith, but he has gained a deeper understanding of the human condition and his own resilience. Through his journey, Elie has transitioned from a naive and idealistic child to a more mature and experienced adult, who has confronted the most difficult challenges of life and emerged on the other side.

Write an essay in which you explain what students have learned. Then, argue whether forced public education is worth the time that a student is in its system.

Answers

The essay on whether forced public education is worth the time that a student is in its system includes Title, Introduction, Body and conclusion.

Title: The Lessons of Forced Public Education: Evaluating its Worth

Introduction:

Forced public education is a fundamental aspect of modern societies, designed to equip students with knowledge and skills essential for personal and societal development. Over the years, students have gleaned a plethora of valuable lessons from their time within the education system. However, the question remains: is forced public education truly worth the time a student spends within its confines? This essay delves into the educational benefits and societal implications of mandatory public education to argue its worth.

Body:

Firstly, forced public education imparts a wide range of academic subjects, fostering intellectual growth and critical thinking. Students learn core subjects such as mathematics, sciences, language arts, and social sciences, which provide them with a foundation of knowledge applicable in various domains. Furthermore, education fosters skills like problem-solving, research, and effective communication, preparing students for future challenges.

Secondly, mandatory education nurtures social development. Schools serve as melting pots of diverse cultures, enabling students to learn to coexist, appreciate differences, and develop empathy. Students engage in collaborative activities, team projects, and extracurricular pursuits, which foster social skills, leadership qualities, and teamwork.

Moreover, public education promotes civic values and a sense of citizenship. Students learn about democracy, human rights, and social responsibility, preparing them to actively participate in democratic processes and contribute positively to society. They also acquire an understanding of ethical principles and moral values, which shape their decision-making abilities.

However, critics argue that forced public education restricts individual freedom and creativity. They claim that rigid curricula and standardized testing stifle unique talents and limit personal expression. Additionally, some argue that the one-size-fits-all approach fails to cater to individual learning styles and preferences, hindering optimal growth and development.

Conclusion:

While forced public education has its limitations, the benefits it offers to students and society are undeniable. The acquisition of academic knowledge, intellectual skills, social development, and civic values are crucial for personal and collective progress. Education equips students with the tools necessary to navigate an increasingly complex world, fostering a more informed and engaged citizenry. While improvements in the education system are warranted, the concept of mandatory public education remains a valuable investment in the future of individuals and societies alike.

What is the single most important factor in making Steve feel like he has “a chance in the world?”

Story: A Chance In the World

Answers

The single most important factor in making Steve feel like he has "a chance in the world" is the presence of a supportive and nurturing adult figure in his life.

In the story "A Chance In the World," Steve is a young boy who endures a traumatic childhood marked by abuse and neglect.

However, his perception of having a chance in the world changes when he encounters a caring and compassionate adult, Mrs. Beers.

She becomes a source of emotional support, provides him with stability and guidance, and helps him recognize his inherent worth and potential.

The evidence from the story demonstrates that Mrs. Beers consistently shows up for Steve, offers him encouragement, and creates a safe environment where he can thrive.

With her belief in him and consistent presence, Steve begins to develop a sense of hope and resilience.

The reasoning behind the importance of this supportive figure is that a nurturing adult not only offers practical assistance but also validates a child's worth and provides a foundation of trust, which is essential for building self-confidence and a belief in one's own possibilities.

I saw my first tree today. Oh, I've seen the plastic trees; practically every street has a few of them.
The O'Brien home was one of the few examples of old-style wooden structures that hadn't been demolished in Boston's urban-renewal campaign at the turn of the century.
The home itself was unimpressive. It had none of the marble gloss or steely sheen of modern buildings but was rather a dull white color, with the paint peeling in places.
My mind was on the tree, and I thought the inside tour would never end, but soon we were walking through a doorway hidden in one of the bookshelves and into the back yard. The yard was big — at least 10 by 20 feet — and I was surprised to find real grass growing on the sides of the concrete walkway built for tourists. The grass didn't distract me for long, however, because I just couldn't help noticing the tree!
It was located at one end of the yard, and there was a mesh fence around it for protection. It was similar in form to the plastic trees I'd seen, but there was much more to it than that. You could see details more intricate than in any artificial plant. And it was alive. But best of all was the smell. It was a fresh, living odor, alien to the antiseptic1 world outside with all its metal, plastic, and glass. I wanted to touch the bark, but the fence prevented me from doing so. The three of us stood there for a moment, and then the tour guide told us to make room for the next group. I didn't want to go — in fact, I felt almost like crying.
On the way back home, Mom and Dad were silent, and I read through one of the brochures the guide had passed out. When I came to the part that said the O'Brien home would be open only for the rest of this year, I was sad. They intend to tear down the place to make room for some kind of insurance building, and the tree will have to go, too.
For the rest of the trip, I just sat still, fingering the object in my pocket which I had picked off the grass in the O'Brien's back yard. I think it's called an acorn.

1. very clean, especially as to be bland

Which of the following contributes to the theme?
A. The narrator collects and pockets an acorn from the grass by the tree before he leaves.
B. The inside tour of the O'Brien home is not as impressive as the narrator had hoped.
C. Old structures and trees were destroyed during the Boston urban-renewal campaign.
D. The real tree is more detailed and smells fresher than the plastic trees that line the streets.

We got to the setting up camp grounds and we set up our tents and we took a walk. Even though I had a strange feeling, everything was going very well. I recall having dinner with some beans, rice, and chicken that my aunt had brought us when we got back. then, at that point, we made a fire, we as a whole lounged around it and talked for two or three hours. That odd feeling remained. Then I saw them suddenly fleeing. I started to run after them, but I was too far behind. I had been abandoned by them. In the woods, I was by myself.

I started calling out my cousins' names out of fear, but no one responded. Although I was only in the woods for a short time, it seemed like an eternity. I saw them approaching after some time, and four of my cousins were laughing at me. I wanted to cry, but I didn't.

I started crying when we got back to my parents' house. I expressed my love for my parents as I gave them hugs. They were surprised because I had already started to cry and wanted to go home while we were only gone for a short time.

I never went anywhere with my cousins after that horrible day, which I will never forget.

The hike began early in the morning on a dusty trail about a quarter of a mile from our campsite. The sun was warm and golden, but the wind was rough and icy. I was thankful for the layers of cotton clothing under my thin nylon jacket. As Jasper and I continued along the trail, the trees got closer together and the plants grew thicker. We could hear the faint sound of running water in the distance. Without talking, Jasper and I walked in a rhythmic, steady pace. I watched the trail so that I could avoid the tree roots and large rocks that dwelt in the pathway. I noticed how the sun painted the ground with blotches of white light amidst the shadows. Absorbed with my own thoughts, I didn’t realize that Jasper had stopped until he called my name.
I turned and went back to where he had crouched. His fingers were brushing the dirt off a flat stone surface. I looked closely and saw intricate symbols carved into the sparkling black stone. I helped Jasper clear the debris off the unusual stone. It was the size of a large garbage can lid. While Jasper dug around the edges, I tried to pry the stone loose. Finally, we worked together to lift the stone from the ground. To our amazement, there was a dark hole underneath the stone. Jasper shined his flashlight down into the hole and discovered a ladder, but he could not see how deep the hole was.
